CT
CT scanning, sometimes called CAT scanning, is a non-invasive, painless medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.

CT imaging uses special x-ray equipment to produce multiple images or pictures of the inside of the body and a computer to join them together in cross-sectional views of the area being studied. The images can then be examined on a computer monitor or printed.
CT scans of internal organs, bone, soft tissue, and blood vessels provide greater clarity than conventional x-ray exams.
Using specialized equipment and expertise to create and interpret CT scans of the body, radiologists can more easily diagnose problems such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, trauma, and musculoskeletal disorders.

General X-Ray
An x-ray image is produced when a small amount of radiation passes through the body and strikes a sheet of sensitive film placed on the other side of the body.
The ability of x-rays to penetrate tissue and bones varies according to the composition and mass of the tissue. Bone, which contains calcium, does not let much radiation through and results in white images on the x-ray film.
The lungs, which are filled with air, allow nearly all x-rays to strike the film, resulting in a black film image. All general x-ray services are bulk billed at GIG Radiology.
Preparation
Once you arrive at GIG Radiology, you may be required to change into a gown and you will need to remove any jewelry or metallic items from your body as they will interfere with the x-ray image.
